The local authorities of Namibia, recognizing the importance of fostering friendship, goodwill, and cooperation, have established NALASRA to promote these values through local authority sports and recreation.

As the governing body for various sporting codes, NALASRA oversees and promotes various sport codes, including:

Sporting Events
Engage in sporting activities to cultivate a spirit of friendship through sports and culture.
Conducive Environments
Create environments that encourage the exchange and sharing of ideas among association members through gatherings, workshops, and recreational trips.
Governing
Act as a governing body for various sporting codes.
Unity Promotion
Promote unity among association members.
Undertake Beneficial Actions
Undertake all feasible, legal, ethical, and moral actions for the association’s benefit and its members.
Establish Overseeing Body
Establish a body that oversees the association’s objectives with prudence, accountability, and professionalism.
Discuss Matters Raised
Discuss matters raised by members concerning sports and recreation activities under NALASRA’s mandate.
Interests of Members
Coordinate and defend the common interests of members in this context.
Mouthpiece of Members
Serve as a mouthpiece for members on matters related to local authority sports and recreation.
Ensure Respect for GA Decisions
Maintain the authority, independence, and autonomy of members, ensuring respect for General Assembly decisions.
Support The Inclusion of Sports and Recreation
Actively support the inclusion of sports and recreation of its members in the local authority sports and recreation program.
